(comment) Speaking about the masterpiece of Mizuki Shigeru, comes in "Kitaro series", "Kappa no Sanpei" and "Akuma-kun", and the original book cover drawing for that "Kappa no Sanpei" Vol.7 remained here. Under the waning moon illuminating the cloud of the night sky as a background, someone above the tree is summoning the wandering souls with a magic flute. The great thing about this drawing is that the white souls and moon are not colored, they are being expressed by not painting and leaving the area blank.
This technique can also usually be seen in other Mizuki's works, but the point of gaining the effect by simply painting the background white, and creating the space effect by "not painting" has a great difference. The space created by the latter technique has the contour melody, which it brings life beating into the region. Probably Mizuki was well familiar with the effect. Of course, he purposely used a troublesome technique to breathe life into the drawing, but the all-important balance in the drawing made it crucial. The main role of this unified blue moonlit night drawing is truely the "not painted" souls and moon's blank area. The wondering souls are being controlled by the flute on the tree, can you see the moon peeking between the clouds? At first glance, the drawing doesn't seem to have any connection with "Kappa no Sanpei", but this is a work that shows the potentiality of Mizuki Shigeru's drawing. That how much the artist put much thoughts into this work of "Kappa no Sanpei".

Additionally, 2 different frames will be included (this picture is what we once listed in our catalog, but as we see it now, the frame and mat is not really matching (regretting now). If possible, changing the inner mat could be a good idea. A darker color could be a good match.)
