(comment) The gags, which continue at a good tempo from beginning to end with the momentum of about 100 "Twists" of "introduction, development, twist, and conclusion," may sound clich , but they have a timeless humor. In addition, the characters' stylish appearances and fashion, the frontispieces that are perfectly cool in every way with their sophisticated composition, and the lively depictions of the machines are in no way inferior to those of Akira Toriyama. And his style is solitary and shows no signs of other influences. He himself said, "I never copied." Everything in the world is a homage to masterpieces created in the past, but Kamogawa's works are the ones that are homaged, and are one of the few "originals = masterpieces."
Macaroni Hourensou has five stories that were not included in the tankobon. All of them were written towards the end of the series, and the reason why they were not included has not been revealed (only episode 115, "The Nico Nico War!!", was later included in the electronic version), but no matter how you read it, they are difficult to understand... in other words, the story is incomprehensible and broken, and the rough drawings are rushed with a felt-tip pen, which is uncharacteristic of Kamogawa, so there is a feeling that the reasons for not being included are all five. It is easy to imagine that this is due to the harshness of weekly serialization, but Kamogawa himself said in a long interview of over 40 pages in "The Disappeared Manga Artist" published in 1996 that this was intentional. His relationship with the editorial department had deteriorated to the worst, and he said that it was a rebellion due to his mental state of "I want to quit" and "I changed course so that I could quit", but the one word Kamogawa said about his feelings at the end of the series: "When I changed my pen to a felt-tip pen, it was already broken." This short sentence alone shows how sensitively and sincerely Kamogawa faced his work and the drawings themselves. I think that the moment he "switched to a felt-tip pen" was the moment when he overturned all of the solitude, pride, and love of creation that he had always protected, and crossed the line. Kamogawa himself is a fierce person who has had a rebellious spirit against the world since childhood, and continues to put it into his pen. His life itself is rock 'n' roll, and the work "Macaroni Hourensou" is also rock 'n' roll. Of these, it can be said that the five unreleased pieces are by far the most rock 'n' roll. The items up for auction this time, especially the 10-volume paperback edition, still have the red and yellow title logo on the spine of the cover, which tends to fade easily, and the yellow on the champion's hat, so they are in good condition and can be kept as part of a collection (Iwaki).
