(comment) The grand prize in the summer of 1993. I was completely blown away the first time I saw "Blade of the Immortal." The solid artwork was done in pencil without inking, with bold and skillful techniques like the gruesome double-page spreads in the battles against enemies. One of the representative authors of Afuta in the 1990s. As a side note, the 1993 Shiki Awards was a bumper year with winners such as Samura, Obara Shinji, Igarashi Daisuke, and Kuroda Iou (Iwai).
