(comment) First appeared as the frontispiece for "The Snake Aunt" (the fourth installment of "The Yamabiko Sisters," published in Hana magazine, serialized by Sato Pro, included in Hana No. 4). Although the first appearance was published in color, the original artwork used for the printing plates was in monochrome. It appears that the color tones were added during the printing process. This piece became even more widely recognized after it was chosen as the cover illustration for Shogakukan's reprint edition. Satsuki, of course, and her still-childlike younger sister Kanna were rendered as beautiful girls with eyes that draw you in (Takahata).
