(comment) Fumi Tamada was a manga artist who was mainly active in June magazine in the 1980s, but because no collected volumes were released she is not widely known to the general public today. However, for JUNE readers at the time she left a vivid impression, and her unique style-an underground vibe combined with aesthetic decadence-makes her a singular figure: a solitary female New Wave artist whose identity was obscured by the magazine's particular nature. As future research into BL history progresses, it seems likely that opportunities to mention her will increase alongside a reevaluation of JUNE. At present she remains an enigmatic figure, partly because of how little exposure she had in her heyday. Handwritten items by her are extremely rare (Yamatani).
