(comment) Kinya Ueki has continued to depict a world of "gekiga" (graphic novels) that differs from the so-called rental manga that originated from such Kashi-hon . Ueki's gekiga were born from movies, which were the overwhelming popular entertainment of the time, and this illustration is modeled after the great actor of yesteryear, Utaemon Ichikawa. Incidentally, the title of this shikishi (decorative paper board) is "Hatamoto Taikutsu Otoko" (The Bored Samurai), but he also serialized a picture story called "Mikazuki Tengu" ( Mikazuki Tengu), which was an homage to this movie, in Shonen Gaho (a Shonen Gaho) in the 1950s (Yamaya).
