(comment) A hot-blooded war chronicle manga
A work that depicts the bond between humans and non-human dogs and the ruthlessness of military service that unfolds on the Malay Peninsula during the Pacific War, centering on the rare subject of a military dog
First appeared in the 41st issue of Kodansha's "Weekly Shonen Magazine" in 1962. The original story was written by Maki Hisao, a newcomer at the time who was also known as the younger brother of Hara Ikki, and the animation was a collaboration between two talented people who were already in charge of the Kodansha-affiliated magazine's "Moonlight Mask" comic adaptation and Kuwata Jiro, who had a track record of being a hit in the boys' magazine "Maboroshi Detective". At the end of the book, there is an announcement that the second volume will be followed, but this first volume will actually be the only publication. In terms of the complete content, it will be used for later reprints, but the dignified appearance of the hardcover is still quaint (Kubo)
