By attaching the included spring to the hole in the head, I was able to hang it up and play with it. While many soft vinyl dolls are designed to stand on their own, this hanging gimmick allowed Oiwa to be freely molded.
The header features a large depiction of the rock from Yotsuya Kaidan. Due in part to the fact that Yotsuya Kaidan was made into a movie every few years from the 1950s to the 1960s, you can feel the historical background in which Oiwa was strongly associated with images of monsters and fear.
Teasing and Hitsume Kozo are a part of the Daiei Yokai Trilogy that was released in the late 1960s, and you can see the influence from 1968's Yokai Great War.
The mount also depicts a potter's neck and a lantern ghost. The Yokai boom of the Showa era peaked with "Akuma-kun'' in 1966, "GeGeGe no Kitaro'' and "Yokai Ningen Bem'' in 1968, and the Daiei Yokai Trilogy of the same period.
This "Haunted House" soft vinyl set is thought to be a product from 1971 onwards, as the ST mark sticker is affixed to the header. It seems that it was sold quietly at the end of the Yokai boom, and the current distribution volume is very small. Items that are rarely available individually.
